 The  Markleeville Library Offers the Following Services:

  • Five public computer stations with free high speed Internet access
  • Free 24/7 WiFi access
  • Books, magazines, books on CD (and on cassette) , movies on DVD (and VHS), and games available for checkout
  • Printer, Photocopier and FAX for public use
  • Free meeting room facility
  • Newspapers, tax forms, maps, and local interest documents
  • Bookmobile service to outlying areas of the county

Looking for a book--but  the Library doesn't own it?  We have a solution!

Simply let us know what you want and we'll gladly place an ILL (Inter-Library Loan) for the book you're after. Or...if you prefer,  search the California Library Catalog from the comfort of your home or office. When you find what you like, give us a call or send us an email and we'll request it for you. (Please note: New books published for less than 6 months are usually unavailable through ILLs.)

ARCHIVES

 

The Alpine County Archives  houses the following records:

  • County records dating back to 1864
  • County budgets
  • Court records
  • School records
  • Property rolls
  • Mining records
  • Great Registers (List of registered voters)
  • Vital records
  • Maps and blueprints  

 

NEW! The Archives owns CD's containing all  Alpine County Grand Jury reports from 1864 to 2001. Additionally we have CD's containing early Grant Deeds, Mining Claims, and Board of Supervisors minutes up to approximately the 1920's. Patrons can view these CD's in the library or purchase copies for $3.00 per CD. For more information please contact the Library & Archives staff.
