NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
ALPINE COUNTY PROBATION DEPARTMENT
2008/09 YOUTHFUL OFFENDER BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
June 3, 2008

The Alpine County Probation Department is requesting proposals from qualified consultants and community-based organizations for design and implementation of programs that enhance the capacity of local communities to implement an effective continuum of response to juvenile crime and delinquency. Allocations from the Youthful Offender Block Grant Fund must be used to enhance the capacity of Alpine County probation, mental health, drug and alcohol, and other county departments to provide appropriate preventive, rehabilitative and supervision services to youthful offenders subject to Welfare & Institutions Code (WIC) Sections 731.1, 733, 1766, and 1767.35. Example program areas include:

  1. Delinquency prevention;
  2. Disproportionate minority contact;
  3. Counseling or specialized mental health services;
  4. Mentoring;
  5. School based educational, tutoring or literacy programs;
  6. Substance abuse prevention and intervention;
  7. Gender-specific services; and
  8. Organized recreational programs.
